About London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is the third busiest international airport in the world, the busiest airport in Europe and the largest and busiest airport in the United Kingdom. It has the highest number of international passengers handling around 70 million international, domestic and in-transit passengers. Heathrow services over 95 airlines, some of the biggest being British Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Scandinavian Airlines, flying to more than 185 destinations worldwide.
London Heathrow Airport is 12 miles west of Central London on the M4 and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It has five terminals and two parallel runways running east to west. Heathrow Express provides the rail link with Central London and takes 15 minutes. Terminal 5 is easily reached using Heathrow Express and the Picadilly Line, both of which serve the new shared Heathrow Terminal 5 station.

Terminal 1
handles some of Heathrow’s domestic and all of its Irish routes, as well as some long-haul and European routes. Please see the comprehensive terminal list below.
Terminal 2
is for most non-UK carriers' flights to Europe and some long haul destinations. Will close at the end of 2009 and demolished. A new terminal will be open in 2013 and will eventually reach the Terminal 1 site by 2019. Please see the comprehensive terminal list below.
Terminal 3
is mainly for long-haul flights. Terminal 3 forecourt was re-developed with a four lane drop-off area and a large pedestrianised plaza. Please see the comprehensive terminal list below.
Terminal 4
until 2008, was mainly used by British Airways but now is Heathrow’s base for airlines of the SkyTeam Alliance for example Air France and Delta Airlines. Please see the comprehensive terminal list below.
Terminal 5
Heathrow’s newest terminal opened by the Queen in March 2008. It has a four storey main terminal building (Concourse A) and two satellite buildings, all linked by an underground transit system.
